2014 Annual Report + α

【Japanese version is below; 日本語は下にあります。】

Dearest Maiko Colors readers,
I hope you enjoy some happy moments for the rest of the year 2014. It is beautiful out here in Tokyo – (freezing but I love this cold. No snow. Just need a winter coat to wrap myself…) how does your NYE look like?
It is not an educational post, but I really want to extend a big thank you to each of you for your cooperation on Maiko Colors in 2014 before finishing the year. And here’s an annual report I’ve gotten from wordpress yesterday;

“A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,700 times in 2014 (which resulted in total of 8700 approx. since 2013). If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.”
●Posting Patterns
In 2014, there were 40 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 60 posts.
The visitors came from 78 countries in all. Most visitors came from Japan. The United States & Brazil were not far behind.

It’s been a year since I moved back to Japan from the US. I am surprised at how time flies and realize that my passion for writing about Tokyo’s creative scene continues to grow deeper with each passing days.
Surviving several daytime jobs, I have tried to make time for the blog including research and interview for this year — Sometimes I slept in front of laptop and deleted some of contents I’ve edited pressing delete key by accident (because of the sleep drive) which brought me a temporary disaster or LOL moment. But anyway, for all sorts of reasons, I love blogging. Writing about moments of lived experience is beautiful and a way to connect to people more than you would expect – not only from where you live but also all over the world. Although it tends to take me a little while to edit one post, I am so happy to share my passion with you all and will keep doing this to build a platform where diverse people come together and connect to Tokyo’s creative community.
Essays, events, exhibitions, interviews, literature, original art and reviews — these are my favorite topics and I am always interested in showing the work of Tokyo artists and how people react to today’s Tokyo, the city where is in preparation for the 2020 summer olympic games.
For the coming year I focus more on interviews to learn/introduce how Tokyo’s shape has been changed aiming to encourage interaction between artists, their audience and Maiko Colors’ current and future readers. I am looking forward to connecting with you all in 2015! Thank you again.
