— ART, FASHION & MORE !
Sometimes my heart just dances for joy when I discover old-fashioned book and printed stationery made out of crisp paper with really neat layouts.
The exhibition “Type From London” represents their work to penetrate Japanese market with the beautiful techniques of letterpress printing featuring the six British letterpress print studios, I.M Imprimit, A Two Pipe Problem Letterpress, Mr. Smith’s Letterpress, New North Press, Harrington & Squires and Hand & Eye Letterpress.
Also, all the studios individually brought their latest work developed especially for the exhibition under the common theme ‘What does the city London mean to them?‘ to show their dedication to the art of letterpress print using the signature colors of the Union Jack and sharp black. Font selection, color use, finishing touches — the project left me a searing impression.
“Type From London Letterpress Art Exhibition” is on view at Paul Smith Space Gallery located at 5-46-14 Jingumae on the third floor, Shibuya-ku in Tokyo until Monday the 13th of October.
