— ART, FASHION & MORE !
Since I got a new hairdo saying goodbye to my 6 years old super long hair in the past April, I have refocused my attention on items that decorate me from the neck down. Many of outfit I’ve owned but archived in closet look differently compared to last time I wore (probably 5 years ago or more) thanks to my new hairdo. That’s the one of reasons why I am more thrilled to focusing on how my outfit looks.
For some reason I had another spring cleaning (I know it’s mid-summer now) lately, and then I found I’ve spontaneously distanced from something I did very often when my hair was super long. It is to decorate my head; to put hair accessories and/or headwear on. I was feeling a little sad that I literally hadn’t seen all my accessories for hair/head in a while. It felt like I’ve left important things behind.
On top of that, I realized that about 90 % of my accessories for head/hair have in common. … Thus it turned out to be a topic to cover this time and style something I love. So what’s the topic? ; BOW. And here are my favorite.
Vintage sequined hair clip from About Glamour
Vintage white mother-of-pearl hair pin from Amarcord Vintage
Vintage pale pink pleated hair clip from Le Grand Strip
France-made acrylic pink/green mosaic hair clip from HEADSTAR
Vintage mustard satin hair band from Britannia Antiques
Beige fluff knit cap with bow from CA4LA
Whenever I add bow on my head, people call me a girly-girl with a comment “you look so CUTE!”. To be honest, I’m not entirely comfortable with that I am grouped as a girly-girl from wearing bow for hair. However, I googled the images of “bow for hair” and found everything is divided into 3 specific types of pictures- the detail of bows, women (including a female cartoon character), and baby girls. Hmm… So I think bows for hair still tend to conjure up a specific vision of femininity or girly to the public, but I sort of want to get rid of the frivolities to keep all the things about fashion as asexual as possible. Anyhow, I will play bows as long as I want, finding a new one from time to time in the future.
But at the same time, I really remember this feeling that I make bowknot tying a ribbon when preparing a gift to make everything look beautiful. I focus on bow because there’s something that it has a special meaning to be marked as a decoration, and adore its power that carries symbolic meaning of grace as I am truly fond of decorating.
I love it BOW, and all the bows for my hair are reborn now.
